Itinerary
Arrival & Colombo Spiritual Introduction
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to Colombo. Visit the Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, an important Hanuman shrine in Sri Lanka. Depending on arrival time, explore Colombo’s cultural landmarks and vibrant local markets before settling in for the evening.
Colombo to Kandy via Chilaw Temples
Travel north to Chilaw and visit Munneswaram Temple, believed to be linked to Lord Rama’s prayers after the battle with Ravana. Continue to Manavari Temple, associated with the first Shiva Lingam installed by Lord Rama. Journey onwards to Kandy for an evening at leisure.
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya via Ramayana Sites
Begin with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Continue to Ramboda to visit the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, a key Ramayana site linked to Hanuman’s search for Sita Devi. Pass Ramboda Falls before arriving in Nuwara Eliya. Visit Seetha Amman Temple and Hakgala Botanical Gardens, both strongly connected to Ramayana legends.
Ramayana Sites of Nuwara Eliya
Explore additional sacred Ramayana locations including Divurumpola Temple, believed to be the site of Sita Devi’s Agni Pariksha. Enjoy the cool climate and scenic tea plantations surrounding Nuwara Eliya. Optional visits to Gregory Lake and local markets in the evening.
Nuwara Eliya to Ella Scenic Journey
Travel to Nanu Oya and board the iconic hill-country train to Ella, passing through tea estates, waterfalls, and mountain tunnels. On arrival, visit the Nine Arches Bridge and explore Ella’s peaceful surroundings. Optional visit to Ravana Falls, linked to King Ravana in the Ramayana epic.
Ella to Bentota Coastal Relaxation
Travel through scenic landscapes from the highlands to Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Enjoy an optional stop at Ravana Falls before arriving in Bentota. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach or enjoy an optional Madu River safari through mangroves and islands.
Bentota to Colombo & Departure
Travel back to Colombo for last-minute shopping at One Galle Face Mall, handicraft stores, and tea boutiques. Optional visit to Gangaramaya Temple depending on time before transfer to the airport for departure.
